This week we will continue subtraction using dominoes, cubes, and counters.
The children are going to be learning to use a number line to count back when
subtracting.
Home activity this week:
Purpose--Children will investigate methods for finding a missing number by counting the total number of objects and remaining objects.
Material--12 buttons or coins
Task--One person writes a number between 1-12 on paper and counts out this many items. The person then hides some of the items under a cup.
A partners uses the number on the paper and the number of visible items to determine the numbers of items hidden. The child tells how they found the missing number.
Both check under the cup to verify the answer.
