This week the children will be learning the game Making Ten.
Using a deck of cards the children turn over 5 cards. They remove any cards that add up to ten. They replace any cards they remove with cards from their deck. If they can not make a set of ten they continue to lay down one card at a time until they can make a set of ten.
The children are being introduce to subtraction. The terms we hope they will know are minus, the symbol -, take away, and difference. They will be using dominoes to subtract vertically and horizontally, as well as understand the concept of a number minus zero equals the number. They will be also be doing story problems looking for important numbers and words to inform them weather to add or subtract.
New game added to Kid Fun--Subtraction, Subtraction Tic Tac Toe and Bowling Subtraction.
