Math for Oct. 3

This our math goal is for the students to see the relationship between adding and subtracting. We hope that they will be able to use a "Fact family" and write different addition and subtraction sentences.

Examples of this would be__

10-6=4 or 4+6=10
10-4=6 or 6+4=10

We used colored fish crackers to add and subtract.
They can add the red and yellow, green and purple or any combination of colors and write an addition sentence such as 3+4=7.
Turn it around and have your child take two colors, count them all, take one color away, then write the subtracting sentence. 7-3=4
Ask your child to tell the story.

Two internet games for them to play to support this concept is Fact Family and Addition Subtraction Practice, which are found in the Kid Fun section on the right.
