This is an exciting week for the first graders. Much of our time is spent getting to know each other as well as the school procedures that the students will be using all year long.
The students will be reviewing letters and beginning sounds this week, as well as reviewing numbers 1-20.
Next we will be jumping into addition and subtraction of numbers 1-20. The goal for all Billings Public School first graders is to be able to add and subtract numbers up to 20 during the first six weeks of school. We will be using many games and hands on activities to develop these skills.
Reading groups will be starting in several weeks, but we will be doing many activities preparing them for the independent work they will need to do at this time.
